Nature in black and white

I went out intending to shoot some contrasty photos. It started snowing yesterday here in Munich, and there's a later of snow, and I thought - shooting black and white removes the colour from the image. And this snowy stuff will remove another dimension that I have to worry about. I only have to figure out the framing.

The photos turned out a little soft (I was shooting a manual lens), but I liked the result nevertheless.

While editing I accidentally clicked a button in Darktable, "negadoctor", and I got this interesting result:
